Can Bahamians Make a Difference
I'm in question of our direction.
I was able to have a long discussion today with my pops, who was basically the brains behind many of the technical craftsmanship behind the Bahamas' major media distributors such as ZNS Tv 13 and Island FM. You know I'm always having my ideas come across and stay in need for feedback from experts in the particular area I'm thinking about. And the topic came up of having an all Bahamian Television network. Sounds like a good idea right? No? Well I think it has some really good potential if there is a good niche available. But anyways, you can say what you think in the comments and I'll get back to ya.
And I came to realization that not even one of the stations we broadcast on the radio or Tv are ALL Bahamian. This may seem like a simple question, but how long before we take grasp on our own things? When are we gonna make our own mark and give ourselves the boost we need?
Why do half the people I know from high school have a better shot working for Sol in Atlantis than working for themselves? Tourism has been the backbone of the country for so long. And we see that we have no control over the flow of new tourist and additional growth in that market so who is gonna figure out what needs to change? Where's our Obama?
Since I am a father and have more concern for the future, I wonder how it's gonna be. 20 years ago and I think it is about time for a big change.

Biggest Facebook discussion I've seen in a while was about Bahamian men doing the same things 20 years later. Bahamian women still the same as they have been... 20 years later. Not everyone of course, but for the most part it doesn't seem like things are on their way to getting better.
Maybe we're confident that we'll know someone that knows someone that can easily get us a gig to make some cash. Maybe it's because only the big companies back home care about your education or a resume, or maybe it's worse... maybe we've settled??? So many different reasons... but like Gregory Delisle always asked me "Is that your excuse?". Let's try something different. Let's get our independence back, as a country, and as individuals.
