The music in me wants to get out

Back in the day, sitting down in my old dorm room, far away from home, I had to find something to keep me out of trouble and still be able to use my time constructively. Naturally, music was my choice. I've been studying music and lyrics since I was young. Making a point to learn the lead parts and hooks to most of the great songs. I remember sitting down countless days recording the best songs from BET and VH1 so I could have my own copy. This was before the internet and limewire's time.

I took all of that with me to the US when I went to JuCo. And that's where it really got a hold of me. Being from the Bahamas, there isn't really the concept of becoming a famous music artist because there isn't as big of a market for it as other places. Especially the US which probably has more influence on other countries than any other.

In my dorm room recording with my boy Terrance was the begging. Having knowledge of computers is useful for many things and it helped with my music. I started off just using some of the beats from popular songs and gradually found other places to get good beats from.

My other running mate back in JuCo was TJ aka Young Tycoon aka The Heartbreak Kid. The beat writer, producer and artist. We put down some solid tracks too. And fortunately we were together makin tracks for about 4 years strong. Even met Marcus Simms aka Young Patience from the Windy City. My other runnin mate and an artist that I helped in the early stages to make some hits and put out 2 CDs (Young Patience Mixtape Vol I and For The Ladies Vol I). We need to get back into it tho.

Soundclick was my favorite online beat finder. But its hard to find the beat you want when you're searching through beats that other's made. I did come across some that worked for me. But I think I'm still undecided on what type of music I want to do. Naturally I love culture reggae first, but reggae, or rather good reggae, is only found in the Caribbean. Being in the mid-west now, I don't have the influence that I did when I was home. Rap would've been next, then RnB.

I've made some good tracks I think but I want to make the next step and put together a full CD of new music. I think that I've experienced alot of things and being the story-teller I am, I'd like to put some of my own thoughts and feeling out there to share with others.

Hopefully with the help of some of my new contacts, I will get back going and be able to share my thoughts with you.
